Hi, I'm Dodi Banzon.
I analyze health financing data to support policy decisions. Currently working in Python + Stata on public health research. Based in the Philippines.

Writing
Longer-form writing that doesn't fit in a chart — notes on data work, health policy, and what I'm learning along the way.
Work
Professional roles where I've applied data science and research skills.
Philippine Institute for Development Studies. Research support on health financing — preparing data for analysis, running statistical work in Stata and Python, and turning the results into visualizations for policy audiences.
Epimetrics Inc. Data consulting for public health research — producing analysis-ready datasets, documenting method and data caveats in technical reports, and raising the team's Python capability.
Gridware. Monitoring and analysis for electrical grid infrastructure — reading Grafana telemetry, triaging alerts, and collaborating with a worldwide team to keep 24/7 coverage.
Work
Datasets cleaned, tools built, and research written up — the concrete pieces behind the roles.
Cleaned and processed the source datasets behind the HEFP dashboard, standardizing them into a consistent, analysis-ready form for the published views.
Research into the efficacy of the eSOA in DRG implementation, reviewing the available data and evidence to inform health financing policy.
Cleaned the cancer datasets for the Health Inequity project and authored the technical reports documenting the cleaning process and the caveats in the resulting data.
Designed and delivered a Python training and familiarization program for staff, covering the fundamentals needed for day-to-day data work.
Python tools that interpret Grafana electrical grid readings into concise quantitative data, cutting average alert response time from 1 hour to under 30 minutes.

About
I'm a data scientist in training with a background in Applied Physics (Computational). I conduct data analysis on health financing data to support policy research and decision-making.
Most of my work lives in the Python + Stata stack — Python for data processing and tooling, Stata for statistical analysis. I care about reproducible workflows, clear technical documentation, and making complex data understandable to non-technical audiences.
Outside of work, I'm expanding into machine learning and health econometrics. I share notes and code on GitHub, and write longer pieces on Substack. Bilingual in English and Tagalog.
